Abstract Science Snags Mount Bank Exclusive

Brighton producer turns out his top cuts for Chicago radio podcast.

by Joshua P. Ferguson

If you've followed Dialogue Incorporated long enough, you know we used to have a regular podcast. We won't get into why that isn't the case anymore. Our excuses aren't great. But, you can still catch regular doses of precisely the music we feature on these pixelated pages by subscribing to Abstract Science via your favorite podcast app or by streaming via

A weekly exploration of future music and its roots, Abstract Science has been featured on Dialogue Inc. numerous times, chiefly because the selections are some of the best around, secondarily because I'm a regular contributor to the show. Because I'm on so frequently— every other week or so—I try to hold off on posts until something truly special happens. The rest of the time, myself and all my co-hosts hope listen in and enjoy.

Well, this week is a special one. Our latest podcast includes an exclusive guest mix from Brighton producer-on-the-rise Samuel Organ, aka Mount Bank. He's a recent addition to Donky Pitch, the UK imprint that helped launch the careers of Lockah, The Range and Chicago's Starfoxxx, artists we've written about here and featured on the show heavily.

Mount Bank's music is cut from a similar cloth as his labelmates, mixing leftfield beats and rhythms that run from bass to footwork to house with ambient textures, classical instrumentation and a keen ear for pop melodies. On the show I described his debut album Counter Real as a cross between The Range, Bonobo and Brian Eno. If nothing else, it's a great companion listen to The Range, who put out one of our favorite records of the year this spring. Mount Bank's is a close second, so don't sleep on it.

If you need convincing, listen to his guest set for Abstract Science below. It starts about 75 mins in, but the whole episode is great.
