Shuffle | We Didn't Think We'd Make It This Far Vol 1
by Joshua P. Ferguson
In all honesty, we weren't so sure either. The kind folks at Donky Pitch, a diverse Brighton-based bass and left field-house label, have been serving Dialogue Inc. since it's early days and we weren't so sure we even wanted to click on the link given the rising imprint's cheeky allusion to a certain deviant sexual maneuver. Well, we did. And we've continued to. Not everything has been brilliance but stand-out releases from, most recently, Lockah and The Range, are well worth a closer listen, particularly the latter:
So we thought we'd do our part to spread the word about these guys and their music by sharing a free comp from the label called We Didn't Think We'd Make It This Far Vol 1. Richly populated with all manner of bass, the comp features a track from each of Donky Pitch's 10 releases as well as a slew of unheard and exclusive material spanning the neon-synth juke rhythms of Ghost Mutt's "Bitch Don't," the sonic crunk of Slugabed's "OOF, WOW!," the frigid trap rave of Tokyo Hands' "Bruised," and additional weighty contributions from LiL TExAS, 813, and V.C.
The best part is, you can get the 10 reissues and 8 exclusives for the price of an e-mail over at Donky Pitch's Bandcamp. Trust us, it's worth it once you get past the name.
